About
I grew up playing golf with my family for many decades. The generations before me are all gone now,
but the legacy continues on...
I believe I am a 6th generation golfer with this special family lineage:
- 8-> Granddaughter (McKenzie)
- 7-> Son (Patrick)
- 6-> Me (Sheila), Brother (Dennis), Brother (Joe)
- 5-> Dad (Pete), Mom (Marcia), Aunt (Pat)(pro)
- 4-> Grandfather (Joe)(pro), Grandmother (Kittie)
- 3-> Great Grandfather (Wilfrid)(pro)
- 2-> Great great grandfather (Arthur)
- 1-> Great great great grandfather (Alfred) (1880's golfer Nottingham, England)
- Dozens of aunts, uncles, and cousins in all generations
Update 2/9/2022: I have discovered an article in the Detroit News archives from April 4th, 1933 in which my great grandfather Wilfrid Reid claimed to be a 6th generation golfer in the Reid family.
That would change me into a 9th generation golfer, with my 6th-Great Grandfather being the first! I am now doing the difficult research...
Ah, but who really cares. I think the important points about golf are:
- anyone can learn to play
- techniques and etiquette can be passed on (inherited)
- the game will challenge you for a lifetime
Yours truly,
Sheila
